If Jude Bellingham aims to fight his way back into the English strongest squad, it would be smart to eliminate the unnecessary reactions. His reaction upon realizing that he was about to come up following a night of inconsistency in the match against Albania was unacceptable.

"I don’t want to blow it out of proportion but I stand by my words 'behaviour is key' and consideration for the players who enter the game," Tuchel said. "Decisions are made and you have to accept it as a player."

There is a lesson for Bellingham. There was no need for an outburst. Harry Kane had recently scored to make England 2-0 up in a meaningless match, with only six minutes remaining and Bellingham, following an inconsistent display, received a caution for fouling an opponent. This was hardly a controversial substitution. Actually it would have been foolish for the head coach to keep Bellingham on the pitch considering there was a risk he would make himself ineligible of the opening game of the World Cup by getting a second caution.

Turning the Spotlight on Himself

Yet Bellingham drew all eyes toward himself. No one could overlook the 22-year-old’s frustration upon understanding that he was going to make way for Morgan Rogers. He flung his arms in the air and even though he shook Tuchel’s hand while heading to the bench it was obvious that the manager did not appreciate it.

This represents the hurdle for Bellingham. He congratulated Marcus Rashford for providing the assist for the captain to nod home his second goal, but his other actions was harmful to his cause. It is not as if complaining was going to reverse the substitution. The coach has stressed repeatedly respecting team hierarchies and the importance of behaving correctly.

The midfielder, not included in the team last month, has been under scrutiny after returning to the squad this month. Relationship Not Broken

Nevertheless, all talk was about Bellingham. The brilliance of Rashford’s assist for Kane's goal was partly forgotten amid the drama of the substitution incident. Tuchel hasn't decided to abandon the player just yet. However, whether Tuchel is inclined to offer him the central position is not guaranteed.
